We all know that buying bottled water is trashy.
It’s far more eco-friendly to drink tap water from a refillable water bottle.
Naturally, you’d want that water bottle to be BPA-free.
And if the bottle itself was printed with messages that encouraged other people to also switch from bottle to tap water? Well, that would be totally sweet!
If all this sounds good to you, check out Tappening.com for a selection of reusable BPA-free water bottles with relevant messages like “Think Global, Drink Local” and “What’s Tappening?”
A plastic 32-ounce Tappening bottle will set you back $14.95 + $3 shipping and handling. Alternatively, you can get the “Think Global, Drink Local” message on a 26-ounce stainless steel bottle for $18.95. (Shipping and handling fees stay the same.)
Need a brand new bag in which to carry those bottles plus other stuff like books, gym clothes, bicycle helmet and whatnot? Tappening’s got you covered there too with a handy duffel-type bag made from recycled water bottles and yogurt containers.
(The bag’s got that catchy “Think Global, Drink Local” message too, so you’ll be evangelizing for the tap-drinking crowd just by walking down the street with aforementioned bag slung over your shoulder.)
Here’s some more good news – money raised from sales of the bags and bottles reportedly gets funneled back into spreading the tap-water-is-good-for-the-planet message.
So how do the bags and bottles perform IRL?
Generally speaking, we rather liked the water bottle. It’s very lightweight (when empty) and seems sturdy and tough.
Perhaps it’s designed for those who are chronically parched, but we think a slightly smaller water bottle would be more easily portable and less heavy when filled. (Maybe we would have preferred the 26-ounce stainless steel bottle to the 32-ounce plastic one…)
As for the bag, it’s incredibly lightweight, but we found it a bit too floppy. It might work better for people who pack their duffel bags full to the brim, but we tend to travel light, and with just a few items of clothing in the bag, the duffel seemed sort of droopy and unwieldy.
In conclusion, we heartily endorse the messaging and marketing savvy behind Tappening. And if you’re looking for a capacious refillable BPA-free water bottle, take a look at what’s Tappening.
